Participate in an established

 

cause-oriented or charity fundraiser.

 

Again, if there is already an ethical, efficient charity with a program in place that you can implement locally, then it is worth serious consideration. Two examples my teams participated in are Coaches vs. Cancer and CURE Childhood Cancer. I also coached in an all-star game that funded Diabetes research and donated portions of camp proceeds to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Advantages:

• Event steps are often already done for you
• Name recognition of national charities/events may elicit more participation

Disadvantages:

• Some loss of control, depending on the organization.
• Lack of contact with organization
